THE POLICE arrested three suspects on charges of stock theft and the possession of alleged stolen livestock produce in De Aar on February 17.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said on Monday that the police apprehended two suspects at a house in Nonzwakazi location.
“The suspects pointed out a third suspect, residing at Barcelona location, who allegedly bought the goat carcases from them,” said Sam.
“The three suspects - aged 31, 38 and 71 years old - are expected to appear in the De Aar Magistrate’s Courts soon.”
The Northern Cape provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, commended the public for providing a tip-off to the police and issued a stern warning that the buying of stolen goods would not be tolerated.
“The public is urged to reject and report stolen goods offered for sale, as it is an offence,” she said.
