TRAFFIC fines to the total value of over R18,000 were issued for various violations during a high-density SAPS operation that was conducted as part of Operation Shanela in Kimberley, Galeshewe and Roodepan on February 12.
SAPS spokesperson Colonel Cherelle Ehlers said that during the operation a total of 1,199 persons and 522 vehicles were searched at vehicle checkpoints, while visits were conducted to malls and shopping centres and there were intensified visible policing patrols.
The Northern Cape provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, commended the SAPS members throughout the Province for their Operation Shanela successes.
