Protesters shut down section of N8

THE POLICE have advised motorists to avoid the N8 between Campbell and Griekwastad due to protest action.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane said on Monday afternoon that the road was barricaded by protesters and closed to traffic in Griekwastad.

“They are allegedly protesting against the lack of service delivery,” said Shemane.

“The SAPS Public Order Police unit is monitoring the situation. No arrests have been made and no injuries have been reported,” he added.
