PREMIER Zamani Saul will launch the Northern Cape Provincial Security Services at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre in Kimberley on January 23, with security services at government departments set to be insourced.

The head of communications at the Northern Cape Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison, Rennie Andrias, said that 124 security personnel from the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs, the Kimberley mental health hospital and the Office of the Premier would be transferred to the Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison.

“The insourcing and transfer of security personnel will be done in phases. The premier directed the Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison to host the provincial security services. The first phase will involve the transfer of security personnel that are on the payroll of provincial government,” said Andrias.

He added that the Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison, as well as affected departments, had engaged with the affected personnel and organised labour.

“During the first phase, security personnel will remain at their current place of employment and will not be affected in any negative way. The official transfer of personnel files and pay point will commence from April 1.”
