A group of retired Former Bophuthatswana Police officers brought hope to a struggling Warrenton family by donating school uniforms, groceries, clothing, and household essentials - all from their own pockets.

IN AN INSPIRING gesture of community spirit and generosity, members of the Former Bophuthatswana Police (FBOP) recently visited Warrenton in the Northern Cape to lend a helping hand to a family in need.
This dedicated group, consisting of retired senior men and women from across the country, undertook their latest outreach in Zone A, Ikhutseng, where the Booysens family resides.
Identified months in advance through careful collaboration with local social workers and educators, the Booysens family has six unemployed members, including two school-going children who urgently needed school uniforms. The FBOP team stepped in to provide essential items such as shoes, socks, trousers, belts, shirts, jerseys, and jackets to ensure the learners could attend school confidently and comfortably.
The outreach, held on April 5, 2025, saw FBOP members traveling from Gauteng, North West, and within the Northern Cape to hand over their generous donations directly to the family. The contributions included groceries, kitchen utensils, clothing, bedding, and even a bed, significantly improving the daily lives of the Booysens family.
Demonstrating their commitment to the community, the FBOP members not only donated items but also rolled up their sleeves to cook and share a hearty lunch with the family and their neighbours, fostering a spirit of togetherness and unity.
The occasion was honoured by the presence of Major General Beesnaar, deputy provincial commissioner for Policing from the Kimberley Provincial Office, along with Constable Maleka of the Warrenton Social Crime Unit, highlighting the supportive partnership between former law enforcement members and current officers.
FBOP chairperson Rakhumo Wa Khumo Moeng emphasised the group's commitment to aiding disadvantaged families without external sponsorship. "Everything we do comes from our own pockets and the goodwill of our members. Helping families like the Booysens is our privilege, and we look forward to continuing our mission across more communities," Moeng said.
Since its inception, FBOP has successfully supported families in Taung, Mafikeng, Klerksdorp, Pretoria, Kuruman, and now Warrenton, illustrating the group's dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of South African communities.
