A WANTED suspect who had been on the run from the law for multiple housebreaking and theft cases in Olifantshoek was finally tracked down and arrested in Pretoria.
The Northern Cape SAPS Tracking Team, determined to bring him to justice, embarked on a tracing operation on February 20, 2025. Their “meticulous investigation” led them to a residence in the Kawoeki Land informal settlement near Eersterust, where the 25-year-old fugitive was taken into custody.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Cherelle Ehlers confirmed that the suspect had been evading court appearances and ignoring court orders, making him a high-priority target for law enforcement.
Applauding the team’s efforts, Northern Cape provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola praised their “tenacity and thorough investigative work” that ultimately led to the arrest.
Colonel Ehlers said the police have reiterated their commitment to ongoing tracing operations to track down wanted criminals in the Northern Cape, vowing that the long arm of the law will always catch up with those who flee.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon to face charges.
