The Upington police uncovered dagga with an estimated street value of over R200,000 hidden beneath a fridge in a Pabalello home.
THE NORTHERN Cape police made a significant breakthrough in their ongoing battle against drug trafficking with the discovery of a large stash of dagga valued at over R200,000 hidden beneath a fridge in a Pabalello residence.
Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela said that members of the Upington Border Police received an alert on Tuesday, December 10, regarding dagga allegedly being sold and stored at a property in Pabalello.
Acting on the information, a search warrant was obtained, and a subsequent search uncovered dagga with an estimated street value of R207,000, hidden in a hole beneath a kitchen fridge.
The police seized the dagga along with cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, and a 75-year-old man was arrested for dealing in dagga.
The swift response and dedicated efforts of the team were praised by the SAPS district management.
Sergeant Masegela said the police in the ZFM District reiterated their commitment to intensifying efforts against drug trafficking and vowed to disrupt the activities of drug dealers during the festive season and beyond.
