Patriotic Alliance (PA) MPL Sharifa Obaray Ferris said that the pool of water was the result of an unattended leaking pipe that had been reported many times.

According to the girl’s friends, she suddenly sank under the water while they were swimming and never resurfaced.

SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane stated that the incident took place in Roodepan on October 30, at about. 4.45pm.

“It is believed the deceased went swimming with friends in the open ditch and drowned. No foul play is suspected and the investigation is ongoing,“ he added.
