Roodepan police investigating after vehicle plunges into Midlands dam

The Roodepan police have launched an inquest into the death of a 61-year-old man whose vehicle plunged into a dam near Roodepan.

THE ROODEPAN SAPS are investigating an inquest into the death of a 61-year old-man who died after his vehicle plunged into a dam near Roodepan on September 28.

SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the police arrived on the scene where community members had gathered at the dam in Midlands Road in Roodepan on Saturday night at around 7.40pm .

“A vehicle was removed with the help of SAPS divers, the fire department and a local towing service,” said Kock.

He added that the body of the deceased was found inside the vehicle.

“An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. Anyone with information can call Detective Captain Teno Slambert on 071 975 4427. The investigation continues.”
